Redskins mid-training camp 2018 schedule prediction
Week 1 – Washington Redskins at Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have had a complete makeover this offseason after going 8-8 last year. Bruce Arians decided to retire after a successful tenure and Steve Wilks was chosen to usher the Cardinals into a new era.
The Cardinals have also added two new quarterbacks to their roster in Sam Bradford and Josh Rosen. As of now, Bradford is the starter, barring any injury. In the case of Bradford, an injury could happen at any moment. First-round draft pick Josh Rosen will push for contention in training camp, but Wilks and the Arizona coaching staff will play it safe and start Bradford.
David Johnson has been cleared for all activity and wants to prove himself once again. He will be eager to show why he’s still a top running back in this league, but I feel as though Arizona will ease him back into the swing of things. I’m not saying he won’t get 20 touches, just not 25 or above.
The defense still has Chandler Jones and Patrick Peterson, but losing Tyrann Mathieu will be a big problem. A new coach, system, and quarterback will be the reason why the Redskins open up the 2018 season with a victory.
Johnson may have a few big runs, but Zach Brown and Josh Norman will make sure this defense shuts down the run and pass game. Alex Smith will come out and show that he isn’t phased in his new home. It will be closer than anticipated in the first half, but once the second half starts, Derrius Guice and Chris Thompson will run all over the Cardinals defense, putting the nail in the coffin.
