OLB Preston Smith

While Ryan Kerrigan is Mr. Consistent and easy to predict, taking a guess at Preston Smith‘s stat line is much more difficult.

Smith’s rookie year started slowly, but he caught fire towards the end of the season with six sacks in his last seven games. Many thought he’d carry that momentum into his sophomore campaign, but he was less than successful, managing only 4.5 sacks even though he played all 16 games.

Smith had a nice bounce-back season this past year, playing his best when he was next to Jonathan Allen. Smith registered a sack in every game Allen played, and if that trend continues, Smith is primed for a breakout year.

Smith is athletic and long, and uses those traits to the fullest. He keeps tackles away from him while also blazing past them. If he can keep his energy up and the defensive line can stay healthy, we could see Smith’s first double-digit sack performance of his career. In a contract year, I expect Smith to show up and perform. The only downside to his big season is the big contract the Redskins will have to give him.

2018 Stat Predictions:  36 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception
