Why Redskins Alex Smith will be a Top 10 quarterback this season
Offensive Line
It’s safe to say that the Redskins’ offensive line woes last season occurred largely due to injuries. This was one of the best lines in the NFL prior to last year. Here is the projected starting lineup for 2018:
Left Tackle: Trent Williams
Left Guard: Shawn Lauvao
Center: Chase Roullier
Right Guard: Brandon Scherff
Right Tackle: Morgan Moses
Roullier, out of Wyoming, was one of the sleeper draft picks in 2017. His development will be key in his first year as the full-time starter, but with a full offseason and valuable first-team reps, Roullier will be able to make the significant jump that he needs.
Moses has been one of the talents the Redskins have taken their time to develop, which has been one of the better moves by the coaching staff. He’s turned out to be one of the better right tackles in the league.
Williams has had the proper amount of time to heal from his injuries, and Scherff has yet to disappoint. These individuals will continue to be the focal points of this line and will lead the other players in the right direction.
Without a doubt, this line will be Top 10 in 2018. This means more production from Smith. They will be able to give Smith a considerable amount of time in the pocket to make his decisions. As a defense, the last thing you want to do is give Smith more time.
In addition to all this, the screen game will be more effective, as all these linemen are great at getting down field to help block. It will be easy for Smith to get Thompson in the open field to work his magic. And of course with a healthy, effective line, comes a productive running game.
