12. Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are still being talked about as a potential contender. This season, I just don’t see it. They’ve lost quite a bit of talent on both sides of the ball, and their offense is looking like a particularly weak unit.

Ezekiel Elliott is still a star for the Cowboys, but aside from him, the Cowboys don’t have much. Dak Prescott is merely average, and he benefits from excellent offensive line play and Elliott. Without top receivers Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten, Prescott could be in for a tough third season. He might be decent, but his upside is capped.

In the first meeting of the season, the Redskins will have a great chance of locking down the Cowboys offense. With their improved run defense, they should be able to at least contain Elliott and they will have a chance to stack the box because of the lack of outside weapons. Manusky will have that game plan ready and will certainly target Elliott as the main focal point of the Cowboys offense.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Cowboys do have a good, young unit. But, the Redskins have the talent needed to attack the one weakness on the Dallas defense. The defensive tackles. Maliek Collins and David Irving are both solid players, but the Redskins interior line should be able to challenge them. Along with Derrius Guice, the run game should lead the team’s offense.

The Redskins should have the advantage in this game at home. It’s possible that they will split the season series, but the Redskins should win this contest. They have the better personnel and should win the individual battles.
