Atlanta Falcons. Dontari Poe. 1. player. 44. . Nose Tackle

Dontari Poe is one of the better nose tackles in the league. Poe spent the first five years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs as their starter at the nose guard in their 3-4 defense. Things changed for him this offseason when he agreed to play with the Atlanta Falcons.

Poe signed a one-year deal in Atlanta and played nose tackle in their 4-3 defense. He found success in his traditional role as a run stuffer, but he also was able to slightly improve as a pass rusher. This was big, as he was coming off an injury that had hampered that ability during the 2016 season. Poe’s experience, versatility, and 6-foot-3, 346 pound frame will make him a great option for tackle needy teams on the market.

If the Redskins want to add another true difference maker to their defense, Poe should be the top guy they target. Though he has been nicked up during his career, he has only missed two games of a possible 96, and he has generally put forth solid performance. Provided that he can stay motivated, he will be a terrific option for the team.

Imagining Poe next to Jonathan Allen is a scary proposition for opposing offenses. They could wreak havoc as a duo, and Poe could do a lot to really set up the defense for success. Hopefully, the Redskins will go after him or one of the other options available on the free agent market.
