Week 17 at New York Giants

This could end up being almost the exact same scenario that the Redskins faced last season in Week 17. A win would give them a shot at the playoffs. A loss would send them home. But for the Giants, this game would actually have more meaning than last year’s contest.

Currently sitting at 2-9, there’s no chance that the Giants can make the postseason. But, they could play spoiler for the Redskins in a second straight season. They will treat Week 17 as their Super Bowl if Washington has any chance at the postseason. Denying a division rival entry to the postseason would make the end of the season worthwhile for New York.

This is a game that the Redskins should win. They can employ the same strategy to beat the Giants in Week 12. Pressure Eli Manning, contain Evan Engram, and run a balanced offense. That was key to their victory on Thanksgiving, and it should replicable in the final contest of the season.

Projected Result: Redskins win 31-20, improve to 9-7

The question after that win would be whether or not the Redskins would actually make the playoffs. With a slew of teams hanging around with 6-5 and 6-4 records, it’s hard to know if a spot would be open for the team. But one thing is certain. Winning nine games would definitely keep them in the conversation as the season goes along.
