5. Junior Galette notches 1 sack against former team

Coming into 2017, there were no guarantees about how well Junior Galette would perform. The former New Orleans Saint hadn’t played since 2014 due to multiple Achilles injuries, but he came into the season as healthy as he had been in recent years. He was slated to come in and be a top backup, but nothing was guaranteed for him.

Thus far, Galette has been a decent rotational player for Washington. He has been definitively behind Ryan Kerrigan and Preston Smith in the pass rush rotation, and he has only seen 32 percent of the defensive snaps. That said, he has been somewhat effective in limited opportunities, but his pass rushing numbers haven’t been great.

Galette has only notched one total sack this season. In two separate games, Galette was able to get 0.5 sacks by bringing down the quarterback with one of his teammates. He has been able to put some heat on quarterbacks, but the stats aren’t showing how effective he has truly been. It’s likely that he will pick up some more before the season ends.

Sunday seems like a solid place to start on that front. The Saints are Galette’s former team and they are the ones who unceremoniously released him after a video of him allegedly depicted him getting into a brawl with a woman on the beach. Galette could want revenge on the Saints for cutting him, so he should bring his best.

Though Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramcyzk are proving to be solid tackles for the Saints, Galette will have a chance to beat them. Even if he does play only 30 percent of the snaps, expect Galette to notch at least one sack and show New Orleans they shouldn’t have let him go.
