3. Shut down Everson Griffen with offensive line

The Redskins are likely to have some of their top offensive linemen back this week. Trent Williams may play for the first time in a couple of weeks and while he may not be at 100 percent, he is a major upgrade over T.J. Clemmings.

This is excellent news for the team’s chances of slowing down Everson Griffen. Griffen is one of the top pass rushers in the NFL, and he is going to be a major threat against Washington. That said, having him battle Williams and Morgan Moses is better than him having a chance to go up against Clemmings.

Even if Williams isn’t ready to go in a full capacity, having him around will benefit the team. The Redskins can scheme to give him the extra help of a blocking tight end if necessary, but it’s likely that he won’t need it. It will be interesting to see how healthy he is, as he could provide the team the boost they need to improve on offense.

Regardless of Williams’ health, his presence will benefit the team. The Vikings will not be as potent on defense if Griffen is shut down. So, if the Redskins can achieve that, they will have a much better chance to win on Sunday.
