1. Fill in properly for Jonathan Allen

The Redskins are going to be playing their first game since the loss of Jonathan Allen. The talented first round rookie was lost for the season with a Lisfranc injury. Barring any changes in his recovery time, it seems unlikely that he will return to the lineup before the 2018 season.

With that said, the Redskins are going to be tasked with finding a rotation that works for the rest of the season. Matt Ioannidis is going to become the main pass rusher on the line, but the team is going to have to find a solid partner for him. They’re going to have to experiment, but it’s quite possible that they will find the right combination.

Still, against the Eagles it will be important to get a good performance out of the defensive line. Though the Eagles don’t have a great running game as it currently stands, it would still greatly help the Redskins to render them as one dimensional as possible to have a chance at containing the pass offense. Stacy McGee and Terrell McClain will play important roles in this contest, and they could end up being difference makers if LeGarrette Blount is contained.

There is no guarantee that Washington can beat Philadelphia, but they definitely need their defensive line to step up. With the injuries in their secondary, they need to get as much up front push as possible to help out their back four. If they can do that, then this game goes from being in favor of the Eagles to being a more equal battle.
