2017 NFL Mock Draft 4.0 – Final Draft Day Edition
5. Cleveland Browns (Trade Up With Titans): QB Mitchell Trubisky, North Carolina
This seems to be the most sensible option for the Browns. If they want to take Mitchell Trubisky, they cannot do it at No. 1 overall. It is too high of a value. However, he may not make in to No. 12. For that reason, the Browns may try to move up, and the Titans are a logical trade partner.

With the First Pick
Trubisky is a one-year starter with only 13 starts under his belt, but he is widely regarded as the top signal caller in the draft. Though I think Pat Mahomes is the better prospect, the Browns could see potential in Trubisky to be a capable leader and bring their offense to the next level. He has Andy Dalton-like characteristics, and perhaps that will do enough to convince Hue Jackson to take a chance on him.
6. New York Jets: S Malik Hooker, Ohio State
The Jets have a high level of interest in the defensive backs in this draft. If Jamal Adams is off the board, then Malik Hooker will be a strong option with this pick. Hooker is a terrific safety, and he figures to be a rangy, ball-hawking center fielder at the NFL level. The Jets will love to add that dimension to their defense.
7. San Diego Chargers: DL Jonathan Allen, Alabama
The Chargers unfortunately miss out on the top safeties on the board, but they still land a player that could be the best defensive guy in this draft. The Chargers are moving to a 4-3 defense, and Allen could be a potential starter for the Chargers on the interior of the line. He has top three talent, but his mediocre workouts and shoulder issues are going to make him slide a bit. Still, he has a great skill set and should be a solid pro if all works out well.
8. Carolina Panthers: RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford
The Panthers have a high level of interest in Christian McCaffrey. They team needs to add a new running back, as Jonathan Stewart has a lot of wear and tear on his body. McCaffrey is a legitimate three down back at the next level and he should be able to play at receiver as well. His fit in Carolina is too perfect to pass up at this point.
