3. Center

The Redskins still have veteran Kory Lichtensteiger at center.  However, backup Josh LeRibeus more than likely will not return as he is an unrestricted free agent this off-season. Lichtensteiger is a solid center however he missed several games last season due to injury.

He often has trouble blocking one on one with bigger defensive lineman and that’s a liability in pass protection and to the Redskins running Game.  Lichtensteiger is also on the wrong side of 30.  So the Redskins need to try to find an upgrade at center.

However, the need at center may not be as big as previously thought. Primarily because the Redskins may move guard Spencer Long at center in 2016. Long has great size for a center at 6’5, 310 pounds.  He’s also a much better fit for the Redskins power running game.

The Redskins will probably take a center at some point in the draft. They need more talent.  However, it remains to be seen if they will spend big money on the free-agent due to the presence of Long.
