6. Quarterback

As long as Kirk Cousins is the Washington Redskins starting quarterback, this need will remain where it is.  However, the Redskins still need to get Kirk Cousins to sign on the dotted line.  So while even remote, until he does sign the chance exists that the Redskins could be left with uncertainty at quarterback.

Cousins still has a lot to prove though.  He had some great moments in 2015 but will that success continue into next season? If Cousins should revert back to his interception machine days, the Redskins need to have an alternative. Not necessarily the backup QB but the Redskins also need a quarterback to develop.

Colt McCoy is an unrestricted free agent and Robert Griffin III will be released shortly.  If McCoy doesn’t return the Redskins will need a new backup.  Free agency will more than likely where they’ll find one.

I think the Redskins will also draft a quarterback.  What happens with Cousins will determine where in the draft they end up taking one.
