The 5 Worst Starters on the Redskins Roster Right Now
ILB Perry Riley Jr.
One of the Redskins’ weakest positions heading into 2016 is inside linebacker, which features two below average starters. One of those aforementioned starters is Riley, who has enjoyed decent success in Washington but is certainly a player the team can upgrade on.
This past season, Riley took a step back for the Redskins–and that’s not just because he missed half of the season due to injury. Even when he was in the lineup, the former fourth-round pick struggled to make plays. Despite his 43 tackles and two interceptions, Riley earned miserable marks against the run and wasn’t much better against the pass. It wasn’t a good showing from one of the team’s higher-paid players.
Seeing as he’s set to make over $5 million in 2016, the Redskins should expect much more from Riley. Instead, they get subpar play, which is why the inside linebacker position desperately needs an upgrade or two this offseason. Speaking of inside linebacker, the final player on this list also happens to drag down the Redskins’ linebacking corps.
