Last offseason, the Colts signed veteran Frank Gore to be their workhorse running back. While the aging running back displayed his patented toughness and versatility from time to time, he wasn’t the solve-all Indianapolis was hoping for. This offseason, there’s a good chance the Colts will be looking to add another proven runner with a little more tread on their tires than Gore.

That’s where a player like Forte could fit into the Colts’ plan. Although Forte also has plenty of wear on his legs, he hasn’t appeared as worn down over the last few seasons while still providing the same toughness, versatility and reliability. He’s a proven weapon in the passing game and instinctive runner who hurt defenses inside or outside of the tackles.

It might be a risky move considering the Colts would like to get younger on the offensive side of the ball, Forte still has a lot of value to offer an NFL team. Assuming he can stay healthy, the former Chicago star could shine as the running back compliment to Andrew Luck and Indianapolis’ high-flying passing attack.
