DT Damon Harrison

Although he’s stated that he wants to stay in D.C., there’s a growing belief that Terrance Knighton will not be re-signed by the Redskins in 2016. He showed well as a run-stuffing nose tackle, but didn’t live up to the expectations Washington had for him when they signed him to a $4 million “prove it” deal last offseason. And seeing as Kedric Golston is pondering retirement, the nose tackle position needs an injection of talent.

Unfortunately, that won’t come in the form of Harrison. While he’d be an excellent addition to the Redskins’ 3-4 front, he’s arguably one of the best at his craft in the NFL and will be paid as such. Seeing as the Redskins have a number of players that must be re-signed and other positions that must be addressed, they simply don’t have the money to invest so much on a nose tackle.

Harrison is an immovable force in the middle of a defense, and would upgrade the Redskins defense tenfold if signed. It’s just too bad that won’t happen. Whether the Jets find a way to re-sign him or he leaves for greener pastures, he won’t be headed for Washington because he’s simply too expensive.
