Running Back

The Washington Redskins finished the 2015 season ranked 20th in the league in rushing.  This is one spot below where they finished in 2014.  Needless to say the past few season for the Redskins hasn’t been very good on the ground.

They’ve made some additions to the offensive line and also hired Bill Callahan as the O-line coach and to make the calls on the running game.  However, the Redskins also need to continue to add more talent at the position of running back.

Alfred Morris has been one of the top rushers in the league over the past four seasons but he’s a free agent this offseason and may not return.  The Redskins do return rookie Matt Jones and Chris Thompson could be back as well.

However, if Morris leaves in free agency then the Redskins will need to look at bringing in a free agent to replace him.  It might be a good idea to bring in a veteran to pair with Matt Jones as opposed to drafting a rookie to do it.

Jones could be allowed to continue to develop and the veteran wouldn’t have to be a workhorse as Jones and Thompson could help share the load.
