Can’t relate well to the NFL players

With a college coach I can see how it might be possible for them to not be able to build relationships with many of your players.  Typically there’s over 100 players on a college team and most are only there for a short period of time.

So in a college program a coach not speaking to a player in the hallway probably isn’t that unusual.  A college player might not feel as slighted if the coach doesn’t acknowledge them.  However, in the NFL there’s fewer players and when dealing with grown men, you at least have to acknowledge their existence.

This is another problem I think Chip Kelly had but you simply can’t treat pro athletes the same as college athletes.  Thus the complaints from some Eagles players of Kelly’s treatment of them.  But we’ll see if things change with Kelly in San Francisco.

If he moves to more of a pro-style attack with the 49ers I think he has a shot.  But if he insists on continuing to run his up-tempo offense I think he’ll fail again.  If the Redskins could solve Kelly’s attack what will the Seahawks and Cardinals do?
