Kyle Shanahan begins the second half with two run plays with direct snaps to Morris and Fred Davis. Neither is successful. Griffin dumps the ball off short to Niles Paul who is tackled short of the first down.
Next, the Redskins have their best drive of the game, starting with a play action pass for a first down. Griffin takes the snap from center on six of eight plays on the drive after lining up in the pistol formation for all but three plays in the entire first half. Morris runs for 53 yards on the next four plays to put the Redskins in scoring position.

Griffin hits Paul for another first down before Morris is finally stopped by the Rams inside the ten yard line. Griffin scores a seven yard touchdown run on a quarterback draw on the next play. The Redskins lead the Rams again, 28-23.
The Redskins last drive of the quarter ends after three downs and a punt. Griffin scores 6 points on 5 pass plays for a 1.20 rating. His only run earns him 3 points. Two of the five pass plays were play action passes and the Redskins did not run the read option on nine run plays.
