Brian Orakpo
Brian Orakpo entered the 2014 season playing for a long-term contract with a large guaranteed bonus. His season ended after only 7 games and with another torn pec injury. Now, entering free agency, Orakpo will be hard pressed to find a team willing to give him the contract he is looking for.
Orakpo had a poor season that wasn’t anywhere close to the standards he had previously set. He finished the season with only a half of a sack and 2.5 QB hurries. Even in 7 games, those are anemic numbers.
It is very doubtful that McCloughan will offer Orakpo the contract extension he is seeking
Orakpo started the season off with a lackluster 0.78 rating versus the Texans. He spent 6 plays in pass coverage and earned a poor 0.63 rating on 16 pass rushes. His 0.82 rating in the run game was average.
Orakpo improved greatly in week 2 versus Jacksonville with a 1.05 rating. He earned a 0.93 rating on pass rushes and a 1.44 rating versus the run. He spent 6 plays in pass coverage.
Orakpo may or may not return in 2015. It is very doubtful that McCloughan will offer Orakpo the contract extension he is seeking.
