4) The HC needs to hire the coaches that fit his system.

Too often, in Washington, hiring is done from the ground up. Jim Zorn was hired as an offensive coordinator for the Redskins before they had found a HC. Then when they couldn’t find a HC, Snyder and former GM, Vinny Cerrato made Zorn the HC.

Working and hiring backwards is always a disaster. Even when Gruden was hired, the Redskins kept many coaches from the Shanahan regime. Would Gruden have hired them if given complete control of the staff? I don’t know.

Defenses and offenses work well when they have compatible game plans. The Redskins don’t have that now with the pass happy Gruden and the unable to stop the pass Haslett. Let the HC hire his people.
