NFL Network continued its Top 100 Players series on Memorial Day, revealing players 50 to 41. Redskins’ tackle Trent Williams came in at No. 47.

That makes four for the Redskins. After Kirk Cousins, Jordan Reed, and Josh Norman were all voted onto the list by their NFL peers, Trent Williams was voted in at No. 47. It’s a fitting spot for the Redskins’ burly bookend. The mammoth tackle has been the model of consistency for the Redskins since being drafted fourth overall in 2010.

More from Riggo's Rag

The 2016 season was more of the same for the former Sooner. Williams’ suspension was a disappointment, but once he was able to see the field again, he quickly made up for his mistakes, providing the solid play that Redskins fans have come to anticipate from the All-Pro tackle.

Williams has not only been a blue chip player, but he’s also been a leader for the burgundy and gold, serving as offensive co-captain since 2011. He does well to protect Kirk Cousins’ blindside, and his energy and tenacity brings out a competitive side from the rest of the team.

Williams has been on the Top 100 since 2013. He appeared at No. 47 in 2014 as well, only furthering his case as one of the most consistent offensive linemen in the NFL. At 28 years old, he still has plenty of high-level football left, and we should see him occupying a slot on the NFL Top 100 for years to come.

Williams is likely the last Redskin to make the list. There are several others who have compelling resumes, but none are more popular than Williams. But the list is only indicative of performance in the previous year. There are plenty of Redskins who could make the leap in 2017 and make themselves known throughout the league.

Nevertheless, there’s still room for another surprise or two. The Top 100 Players series runs for the next few weeks, until the No. 1 player is crowned. Stay tuned to see if Williams is the last Redskin to make the list.
