The Washington Redskins are looking chaotic right now, and teams are taking notice. Now eyes are on the status of Chris Baker.

According to Mike Klis of 9News (Denver), the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay are watching Chris Baker’s status very closely and might make a play if given the opportunity. Monday afternoon Klis tweeted the following:

Add to that list the Indianapolis Colts, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Since Baker joined the team in 2012, his performance has only increased.  That same year he had eight tackles. Last season he had 29, his best when it comes to solo tackles.  Combining tackles and those he assisted, his best year was 2015 with 53. He had 47 combined tackles last season.

Baker is consistent, thus being the reason he’s a top-tier player for the organization. Losing Baker would sting.  Baker is an impact player, providing good pressure on O-Lines and QBs.  The problem with the Redskins defense begins at the top.  Between last season’s series of blown coverage and the “How did that just happen?” looks, the Redskins really need to turn around the 3-4 scheme or do something completely different.  They might get that this season with so many new faces leading the defensive scheme. However, success on the field begins with keeping things strong up front. That means keeping Baker on the roster.

In addition, he’s a great compliment to Ryan Kerrigan and Trent Murphy. And while there are rumors he will be offered a contract this week, keep those fingers crossed . There are a lot of people on that list. Chris Baker will be top conversation if he’s not offered a contract on day one of becoming a Free agent. SportTrac reports the Redskins signed Chris Baker to a three-year, $9 million contract extension in February of 2014 that contains $3,950,000 in guarantees.
