It's been another week full of lavish praise for Jayden Daniels. The quarterback's exceptional start to the 2024 campaign continued with a mesmerizing performance at the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. It's early days and nobody within the Washington Commanders is getting too carried away, but it looks like their complex riddle at football's most important position has been solved.

Daniels just has an aura about him. No moment is too big. The brighter the stage, the better he plays. That's the sort of signal-caller everyone can get behind, least of all a franchise that's been starved of consistent quarterback production since Kirk Cousin left for the Minnesota Vikings after getting two straight franchise tags.

Momentum is building around the Commanders and Daniels. Their home game against the Cleveland Browns was arguably the best defense he's faced so far. No unit with All-Pro edge rusher Myles Garrett should be taken lightly, but hopes were high that Washington's improved offensive line could give the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft a fighting chance.

As it turned out, the Commanders blew away the Browns with minimal fuss to move to 4-1 on the season. With this in mind, here are five major observations from Daniels' performance in Week 5 at Northwest Stadium.

Major observations from Jayden Daniels' performance vs. the Browns

Jayden Daniels' early highlight

Jayden Daniels didn't waste much time in showcasing his elite-level skills in this one. One play, in particular, sent the crowd at Northwest Stadium into delirium.

Just when it looked like Daniels was en route to getting sacked, the signal-caller somehow escaped pressure before launching a deep bomb that hit Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin in stride for a 66-yard completion. It was a remarkable throw and further evidence of what a special player the Washington Commanders have on their hands.

These are skills that cannot be taught. Daniels is elusive, fearless, and can get the football downfield effortlessly in the blink of an eye. McLaurin is the primary beneficiary so far - something the wideout richly deserves after having to cope with subpar production under center from the moment he was drafted.

Jayden Daniels under pressure

We mentioned it a lot throughout the week. The Cleveland Browns might be struggling to find the form anticipated, but their defense is a force to be reckoned with when in the mood. Jayden Daniels was up for the challenge, but it didn't come without a few jittery moments.

Cleveland's defense closed the margins and made life difficult for Daniels over the early exchanges. They continued to pile on the pressure throughout the clash, but he coped well in tricky circumstances. Having a good offensive line helps, but the Browns had too many weapons to keep the pocket clean entirely.

Daniels made a couple of errors - one of which resulted in a red-zone interception. He grew in stature as the contest progressed, reading the defense well and recognizing where pressure was coming from with supreme efficiency.

The former LSU star's composure both pre and post-snap is outstanding for someone with so little NFL experience. His escapability and instinctive awareness in the pocket are also serving him well.

Jayden Daniels' mobility

Jayden Daniels is getting a lot better at picking and choosing his spots before getting out on the move. He's not a one-trick pony, demonstrating his pocket prowess after getting rid of some initial jitters in Week 1. But when there are yards on the ground available, the signal-caller has no trouble getting them.

These came when the Browns lacked discipline on the edge. Daniels knew when players were over-committing in their assignments and reacted accordingly. A prime example of this arrived in the second quarter when Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah misjudged his angle and the dual-threat weapon took off for a 34-yard gain.

This is an ongoing positive for Daniels. Being selective with his running is helping the offense overall. It's enough to keep opposing defenses honest, especially given his ability to spot a weakness developing in front of him before taking decisive action.

Daniels eventually finished with 82 rushing yards on 11 carries. His initial burst to avoid contact was a big reason why. There's a lot of natural talent involved, but the differences between his NFL debut to now are night and day.

Jayden Daniels was in complete control

It would have been easy for Jayden Daniels to get flustered with such a talented defense in front of him. Fortunately for the Washington Commanders, their new franchise quarterback is made of sterner stuff. He took what the defense gave him when things appeared complicated. He completed just 11 passes on the day, but they went for 238 yards.

Daniels knows how to be explosive. Whether it's on the ground or throwing the football, the signal-caller can do it all. He's a nightmare for opposing defenses to counteract. The most impressive thing above all else is how he seems to be in complete control at all times.

The Heisman Trophy winner didn't reach his lofty completion percentage numbers, but that was inconsequential. Daniels knows how to hurt defenses in different ways. The fact he's always so poised inspires others to match this mindset. It's been a long time since the Commanders had anybody like that under center.

Such was Washington's dominance on both sides of the football, Daniels got an early finish for good measure. When was the last time the Commanders had that luxury without getting blown out?

Commanders picked the right guy

There is no doubt about it. The Commanders struck gold when they took Jayden Daniels at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He's everything this storied franchise has lacked for a generation. It wasn't perfect in Week 5, but he got the job down with minimal fuss to secure more than 300 all-purpose yards once again.

The excitement surrounding the franchise thanks to Daniels is on another level. It hasn't been seen for years. It's happening much sooner than expected, but the Commanders seem like the real deal after racking up four straight triumphs. This is an incredible turn of events and their first-round quarterback is a big reason why.

Everyone believes they have a chance with Daniels. From the coaching staff to the players and the fanbase, he's provided genuine hope for the future. And make no mistake, this is just the start. He's going to get much better with additional experience.

This was another test Daniels passed with flying colors. The eyes of the league will be on Washington next weekend during their trip to the Baltimore Ravens, which is a mouth-watering clash between two elite quarterbacks.

It's only early, but that's exactly what Daniels appears.
