Commanders DE Chase Young's health

One of the biggest talking points throughout the offseason has been Chase Young's future. The Washington Commanders have gotten almost nothing from the defensive end over the last two seasons, which stems from injury complications and a lack of explosiveness when available to participate.

It's not been easy for Young, who came into the league with generational upside as the No. 2 overall selection in 2020. The Commanders didn't pick up his fifth-year option - which was understandable in the circumstances - so the gauntlet has been laid down in the biggest way imaginable.

Young could take this as motivation and potentially go on a tear next season. Something that would give the Commanders a major dilemma with fellow defensive end Montez Sweat also out of contract and looking for a new deal.

All signs are positive on the health front for Young. However, seeing how he's moving and performing during OTAs will be the biggest indicator of his recovery to date.

While there remains speculation linking Young with a trade away from the Commanders this offseason, that ship might have sailed unless an astronomical offer comes Washington's way. Therefore, the former Ohio State stud can focus his attention on silencing some increasing doubters once and for all.
