Commanders WR Mitchell Tinsley shines

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises to emerge from training camp centers on an undrafted wide receiver who stands a phenomenal chance of making the 53-man roster thanks to his superb production. Mitchell Tinsley has been making plays from start to finish, demonstrating the explosiveness and consistency needed to force his way into the Washington Commanders' plans.

Despite the wide receiver room being among the deepest at Washington's disposal, Tinsley has done his chances of securing a spot the world of good. His crisp route-running and exceptional ball skills were on full display once again on Saturday, bringing in a pair of touchdowns and even getting some opportunities with the first-string unit along the way.

This is another step in the right direction for Tinsley, who could be in pole position for the No. 5 or No. 6 wideout spot depending on how the Commanders perceive Byron Pringle's contribution so far. It's far greater than even the brightest optimist hoped and if the same trend continues over the next fortnight, the former Western Kentucky standout will be difficult to leave out.

Even if Tinsley doesn't do enough - which seems unlikely at this juncture - an opportunity could arise elsewhere thanks to his sterling efforts to date. The Commanders would be taking a real risk if those in power attempted to stash him on the practice squad, but his performances so far are more than deserving of regular-season involvement.
