Commanders UDFA signings so far
Once the 2023 NFL Draft concludes, there is also a frenzied period of undrafted free agency to get through before calling it a night. Something that represented another opportunity for Ron Rivera to potentially acquire some rough diamonds and mold them into capable performers that can make the 53-man roster.
While it’s obviously disappointing for prospects not to hear their name called, it’s not the end of their journey. Many top-level performers throughout NFL history went undrafted and in some cases even made the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a result of their efforts.
The Commanders signed a few intriguing players early in the undrafted free-agent process. Here’s what we know based on multiple reports at the time of writing:
- Xavier Henderson (S): Michigan State
- Joshua Pryor (DT): Bowie State
- Mason Brooks (OT): Ole Miss
- Mitchell Tinsley (WR): Penn State
- Kazmeir Allen (WR): UCLA
- Nick Whiteside II (CB): Saginaw Valley State
- Jalen Sample (WR): Minnesota State
Washington also wants to take a closer look at former Appalachian State quarterback Chase Brice at their upcoming rookie minicamp. He’s accepted the invitation, but the Atlanta Falcons have done the same, so it remains to be seen how things shake out.
