Commanders don’t want to see Odell Beckham Jr.

One doesn’t have to look far throughout history to see the damage Odell Beckham Jr. did to the Washington Commanders. The wide receiver was an absolute menace at the peak of his powers, but he missed the entire 2021 campaign through injury and it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll return to the form of old.

Beckham held a workout on Saturday that multiple NFL teams attended. His reported asking price of $20 million per season is unrealistic, so whether a compromise can be reached will likely dictate the LSU product’s market.

One team that’s been linked heavily with Beckham is the Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones almost brought him into the fold for their short-lived playoff run and hasn’t ruled out the prospect of acquiring the player this spring.

This would be a problem for Washington unless they get themselves a true shutdown cornerback via free agency or the 2023 NFL Draft. Beckham remains an exceptional route-runner with the ball skills to match, which would free up additional space for the likes of CeeDee Lamb to work for good measure.

The Commanders have seen enough of Beckham to last them a lifetime. So with any luck, he’ll end up outside of the NFC East in pursuit of another Super Bowl ring.
