Carson Wentz could join the Raiders

The Derek Carr era is all but over as the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback looks set to join the New Orleans Saints according to multiple reports. This leaves head coach Josh McDaniels looking far and wide for a new signal-caller capable of finally getting this franchise trending in a positive direction.

While speculation continues to rise surrounding a potential trade for Aaron Rodgers, the Raiders could also select a top prospect from the college ranks at No. 7 overall. Something that would provide long-term stability for a team that always seems to be involved in some sort of drama.

However, there is a need for McDaniels to make major improvements after a season of underachievement. And the Raiders are known for making a bold splash or two in pursuit of progression.

Regardless of which way Las Vegas goes, it’s clear they’d need either a veteran bridge or a more capable backup option. That’s where Carson Wentz comes in.

His production with the Washington Commanders wasn’t up to the required standard. But stepping into the shadows as a backup and regaining confidence could be the key to his career longevity.

Wentz is now firmly in the last chance saloon. So his next move must be the right one and the Raiders do make some sense factoring everything into the equation.
