3 distinct advantages Commanders have over the Giants in 2022
By Jerry Trotta
2. Offensive Line
The Commanders’ offensive line is once again one of their biggest strengths. While the interior of the line might need an adjustment period with two newcomers, the line overall shouldn’t skip a beat without Brandon Scherff and Ereck Flowers.
Andrew Norwell and Trai Turner are both multi-time Pro Bowlers and have played under Ron Rivera. Charles Leno remains one of the NFL’s most unappreciated left tackles and Sam Cosmi showed in a limited sample size as a rookie that he has the potential to become an elite right tackle early in his career.
In terms of depth, Cornelius Lucas is one of the best swing tackles in the game and Wes Schweitzer can fill in anywhere on the interior.
While the Giants added a full-blown stud in Evan Neal via the draft, their offensive line is very much in the midst of a rebuild. Schoen did well to find capable stopgaps in free agency, but Daniel Jones was running for his life for most of New York’s preseason opener against the Patriots. That kind of says it all.
Despite the upgrades made this offseason, the Giants OL doesn’t come close to stacking up to the Commanders’ loaded unit.
