2. Can Jamin Davis Step Up?

There’s an argument to be made that no player on Washington’s roster needs a stronger training camp than Davis. The former SEC standout enter the NFL with high expectations after the team drafted him No. 19 overall last year, but the rookie linebacker never got off the ground and played just 56% of the snaps.

It’s clear Davis was overwhelmed by the speed of the NFL, and he struggled mightily reading offenses. Perhaps he isn’t cut out to play inside linebacker, which could be why we saw the coaching staff move him to an off-ball role near the end of the season. Suffice it to say he looked more comfortable there.

Davis referred to his rookie year as a “humbling” experience and he’s feeling more confident ahead of a huge sophomore season. The Commanders better hope that’s not all just lip service, because they’ve yet to add a new linebacker and Cole Holcomb is currently the only proven three-down linebacker on the roster.

Davis making strides in his development would be huge for Washington as he has the requisite physical tools to wreak havoc sideline-to-sideline. Full of confidence, all eyes will be on Davis to see if he asserts himself as a clearcut starter at camp.
