Washington Commanders. Carson Wells. 230. player. 58. . OLB/EDGE

Washington’s final two selections in the 2022 NFL Draft will come on opposite sides of the football. In rounds 5-7 last season, Washington looked to add rotational pieces that contributed in minor roles like Shaka Toney, William Bradley-King, Dax Milne and others.

This year, I believe the same philosophy will be intact for the Commanders, and both prospects they pick here are not only versatile within their roles, but can also provide special teams help if needed.

With their first selection in the seventh round, I believe they’ll go with Carson Wells, a OLB/EDGE from the University of Colorado.

With interceptions over the last three seasons, one of which he returned for a touchdown, Carson Wells versatility and athletic ability as both an outside linebacker and an edge defender in the NFL will likely intrigue Washington.

Wells put together over 35 pressures as a pass-rusher throughout his collegiate career, while allowing an NFL passer rating of 63.0 when targeted in coverage throughout his time at Colorado.

Wells projection is interesting because he has shown the ability to play numerous positions over an extended period of time. He’s essentially the jack of all trades kind of prospect, with no real identity going forward at the next level. Luckily for Washington, they seem to enjoy players that are physically gifted and believe they can carve out a role for anyone in the building.

T.J. Pledger. 239. player. 58. . Running Back. Washington Commanders

Washington’s final selection in the 2022 NFL Draft is a running back, one that can provide a spark in space, while also having small sample sizes of experience as a kick-returner.

Utah’s T.J. Pledger is an extremely elusive, shifty and quick running back that could project as a third-down running back in the NFL. He’s put together 11 touchdowns and over 1300 yards from scrimmage over the last two seasons and despite not being elite at any one specific area as an athlete, he’s well-rounded and can provide some pop in the backfield.
