1. Sign Bobby Wagner

Does signing a top-five linebacker in the game and one of the best linebackers of his generation really need an explanation?

Probably, not but we’re going to provide one anyway. After all, Washington might be hesitant to splurge on one position after their $33 million in cap space shrunk to less than $6 million by trading for Carson Wentz and his contract.

Wagner is just a different breed of linebacker. At 31 years old, the Seahawks legend just compiled the most combined tackles (171) of his career. He’s played at least 15 games in every season dating back to 2015 and has made the Pro Bowl in eight-straight years. That streak includes six All-Pro nods to boot.

There’s really not much else to say about Wagner. As the anchor and signal caller roaming the second level of the field, he’d single-handedly transform Washington’s defense into a top-five unit in the entire NFL. And think about the impact he would have on Jamin Davis’ and Cole Holcomb’s development.

The only caveat here is Wagner will have a massive market and he won’t be unemployed for long. We hate to incite panic amongst fans, but the Cowboys are reportedly one of the teams that have already reached out to Wagner.

With Dan Quinn being his former defensive coordinator in Seattle, the Commanders better come correct during negotiations.

Next. Washington now has perfect backup plan to Bobby Wagner. dark
