1. DeVante Parker

The Miami Dolphins tried bolstering their receiving corps by adding Will Fuller and Jaylen Waddle to pair with DeVante Parker. While Waddle was fantastic as a rookie first-round pick (104 catches for 106 yards and six touchdowns), Fuller played in just two games and Parker was limited to 10 contests.

After this season, it looks like Waddle is the only receiver that has a future in Miami. While Fuller will leave in free agency, the Dolphins could look to move Parker, who has one year left on his contract, this offseason.

While Parker has disappointed as a first-round pick, you have to attribute more blame to the Dolphins for over-drafting him. Having struggled with injuries and consistency throughout his career, the Louisville product clearly isn’t a No. 1 option and would benefit from a change of scenery.

With Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel serving as the top two targets in the passing game, Parker wouldn’t have to worry about matching up with an opponent’s top corner every week. At 6-foot-3 and 219 pounds with elite jump-ball ability, Parker would be a perfect complement as the perimeter WR opposite McLaurin.

Fans will look at Parker’s career numbers and scoff at the idea of trading for him, but it’s important to know he’s fallen victim to subpar QB play.

In his seven years with the Dolphins, he’s caught passes from pre-Titans Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore, a washed Jay Cutler, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brock Osweiler, Josh Rosen, Tua Tagovailoa and Jacoby Brissett.

Context matters and Parker balled out in the season (2019 with Fitz) that produced the best quarterback play. That year, he posted career-highs in targets (128), catches (72), receiving yards (1,202) and touchdowns (nine).

With one year left on his deal and accounting for just a $9 million cap hit in 2022, Parker makes a lot of sense as a trade target for the Commanders.
