4. JD McKissic

If not for Terry McLaurin, JD McKissic would be running away with Washington’s offensive MVP award, which makes it all the more maddening that he STILL doesn’t get the attention he deserves. We’re mostly referencing the national media  here, but fans in Ashburn could be doing more to boost his stock.

Nevertheless, McKissic was once again indispensable. That says a lot given Antonio Gibson turned in arguably his best performance of the season.

Early in the second quarter, McKissic turned a simple checkdown on 3rd and 14 into a 12-yard gain to set up a manageable fourth down. He had nowhere to go on the play, but skipped past a couple of would-be tacklers and made something out of nothing. Wouldn’t you know it, he converted the fourth down, too. A few plays later, Heinicke connected with Carter from 20 yards out to open up a 13-0 lead.

It’s little things like this that go unnoticed, and McKissic has been doing it all year. The veteran running back only managed four catches for 35 yards, but it felt like every one of those catches kept the wind in Washington’s sails.

It was another productive day at the office for McKissic. Only this time, it was Gibson who got to play hero at the end.
