Tight End

Rostered: (3) Logan Thomas, Ricky-Seals Jones, John Bates

Starting tight end Logan Thomas was recently called a top 5-7 tight end by his position coach. Thomas provides a more complete skill-set that is unmatched by any other tight end on the current roster.

After Thomas, the drop-off could be sizable. Rookie John Bates wasn’t necessarily known to be a receiving threat at Boise State, so he will need time to work on the finer details of the position. His primary focus should be on becoming an effective blocker as the need for a blocking tight end is grossly under appreciated.

Ricky-Seals Jones makes the final roster over athletic super-freak Sammis Reyes, Deon Yelder, and Tyrone Swoopes. Seals-Jones seems to be more of a receiving threat over his competition. This gives him the inside track for the last spot, as it provides more stability if Thomas were to be injured.

There is an outside chance the Washington Football Team could decide to keep Reyes if they think he might be claimed if cut. The former college basketball player seems to be more of a practice squad type of project at this point though.
