Washington trades up for an elite talent

In a piece today with some draft insight, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said Washington, “has done legwork on a potential trade up, making phone calls to teams in or around the top 10. We’ve talked to a few personnel evaluators who think Washington’s target is not a quarterback.”  A trade up into the top 10 for Washington, is not that bold.

It is reasonable to think that the Washington Football Team could trade into the Top 10 to select their quarterback. But to trade into the top 10 to select a non-quarterback? Who could that be? Some say, Micah Parsons.

However, in my opinion, due to the decreasing value of the traditional linebacker in the modern NFL, trading into the Top 10 for one is not a good process. If this report from Fowler is true, and not a typical pre-draft smokescreen, this can only be one of two players: Kyle Pitts or Penei Sewell.

That is my final bold prediction for the Washington Football Team. They will trade into the Top 10 for either Penei Sewell or Kyle Pitts. Both would be of great help to the Washington Football Team. Pitts may just be the best overall player in this draft regardless of positional value.

Sewell would be an instant plug-and-play player at left tackle. Some consider his elite traits and advanced knowledge of the game to make him a generational prospect. A player in the same threshold as Trent Williams.

There are also reports that Rashawn Slater of Northwestern, is higher on some teams’ boards than Sewell. And due to the run on quarterbacks in the Top 10 that is expected and Slater possibly being picked before Sewell, it is possible Pitts or Sewell start to slide. If so, Washington will pounce and add an elite talent to its offense.
