Round 7

Tony Poljan, Tight End, Virginia (6-7, 265)

The Washington Football Team adds a second tight end to the roster.  Tony Poljan would likely be a practice squad candidate in his first season.  Poljan has been able to gain about 40 pounds of bulk and muscle to his lanky frame in recent months and that is a plus in his favor.  He needs to improve as a blocker but has good hands and a is solid receiver.

Poljan was a quarterback at Western Michigan and switched to tight end during his junior season, so he is still learning position.  He played the 2020 season at Virginia as a graduate transfer.

Paddy Fisher, Linebacker, Northwestern (6-4, 240)

Paddy Fisher is unlikely to be an every-down linebacker in the NFL, but he can spend a year on the practice squad.  The potential is there to be a good run stopper but is too slow in any coverage scheme.

Fisher will need to make his mark as a special teams player early in his career and find his niche.  He is very physical and does have an above-average build for an NFL linebacker.  Fisher is a streaky player who can look good for a quarter, then regress in the next quarter.

Other Possible Seventh Round Targets:

  • Dez Fitzpatrick, Wide Receiver, Louisville
  • Joshua Kaindoh, Outside Linebacker/Defensive End, Florida State
  • Damonte Coxie, Wide Receiver, Memphis
  • Josh Sills, Offensive Guard, Oklahoma St.
  • Chris Wilcox, Cornerback, BYU
  • Cade Mays, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Tennessee
  • Cary Angeline, Tight End, North Carolina State
