No. 3 – The WFT will probably get clobbered by Tampa Bay, and that’s okay

Unless the Washington Football Team changes a few things, they won’t stand a chance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday. But guess what? That’s okay. Because Ron Rivera is in the long-term game, and he’s already ahead of schedule.

The Washington Football Team isn’t good enough on paper to compete in the NFC playoffs this year. Quarterback is still a major issue, as Alex Smith’s lack of improvisational ability and arm strength showed on Sunday. There’s still a need for more playmakers on offense, and on defense, things can be polished further as well.

It’s okay to have these questions, because Washington wasn’t supposed to answer them all in 2020. In fact, they weren’t supposed to answer as many as they did. We know now that the defense can be elite. And we also know that the offense, though it needs a quarterback and added weapons, has something in the works.

Even at 1-5, Ron Rivera and the Washington Football Team set out to win the division. They accomplished that against all odds last night. Now, everything else is an added bonus. The real championship run likely won’t come this year. But this year may serve as the foundation.
