Stud No. 3 – Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic

The Washington Football Team needs to figure out the future at the quarterback position, but no matter what happens, they can have some peace of mind, knowing that they have a tremendously talented running back duo under contract for the foreseeable future.

Antonio Gibson returned from a foot injury in Week 16, while receiving back J.D. McKissic retained his role as a rotational runner and pass-catching specialist. The two complimented each other very well on Sunday, and while inconsistent quarterback play negated their impacts, they noticeably moved the offense when on the field.

Gibson ran the ball for 61 yards on ten carries, and broke several tackles. McKissic, meanwhile, tacked on 15 rushing yards, with his main impact being felt in the passing game. There, McKissic logged 77 yards on eight catches, including an impressive touchdown reception from Taylor Heinicke late in the game, in which McKissic retained possession downfield, through contact.

Gibson and McKissic both have exciting versatility, and as the former gets more comfortable in the NFL, Scott Turner should be able to get more and more creative with his usage. The Washington Football Team has a lot to work on when it comes to offense, but the running back position is set.
