Washington Football Team studs and duds from Week 16 loss vs. Panthers

Stud No. 2 – EDGE Chase Young
Every week, when the Washington Football Team needs a momentum-shifting play on defense, Chase Young is there to deliver. From pass deflections to sacks to goal line stops, Young has a habit of coming up clutch, and he did that again versus the Panthers.
On the stat sheet, Young only has one turnover to his credit, but he basically helped generate two. Late in the first half, with the Panthers driving down the field, Young won his rep against the tackle and batted the ball as Bridgewater threw it. Bridgewater still got the throw off, but it popped up into the air, and a looming Kamren Curl intercepted it.
Later, rushing against backup tackle Michael Schofield, Young got the edge, and reached out to swat the ball as Bridgewater started his throwing motion. Young knocked the ball out of Bridgewater’s hand before he could throw. Then, he dove down and recovered his own strip.
Young now has 6.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and four pass deflections on the year. His Pro Bowl recognition might have been a bit premature, and more attributed to his name recognition, but Young has no doubt been a star for the Washington Football Team this season, and it’s exciting to think about what he might do in the years to come.
