Stud No. 4 – The offensive line

Antonio Gibson was without a doubt the star in the Washington Football Team’s Week 12 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, but let’s take a moment to be thankful for the offensive line, and the lanes it opened up for Gibson and veteran running back Peyton Barber on Thursday.

Gibson and Barber both averaged over five yards per carry in this game, and together, the two combined for 172 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 31 total carries. Running back success is somewhat dependent on offensive line play, and that was especially true on Sunday, as the Washington Football Team’s blocking unit served up a feast, especially on the interior.

A team’s rushing game is at its best when the running backs and the offensive line have a sort of symbiotic relationship with one another, and that’s what we saw on Thanksgiving. The line opened up holes for Antonio Gibson, and he hit them with tremendous explosiveness, and extended runs down the field on a regular basis.
