Washington Football Team: Kyle Smith needs a promotion to GM
Final Thoughts
Since being promoted in 2017 to Director of College Scouting, Kyle Smith has shown a keen eye for collegiate talent. The past three drafts have seen an influx of talent come to the Washington Football Team. Two superstar players in Chase Young and Terry McLaurin. Budding stars in Montez Sweat and Antonio Gibson and numerous late-round and undrafted free-agent finds.
In his first year signing a free agency class, he and Ron Rivera found quality lesser-known name options. The foundation is continuing to be set by these quality producers.
The Washington Football Team under the direction of Kyle Smith has begun to build a team the right way. Get guys that fit your system and build through the draft. Do not chase bigger name players that require more lucrative deals.
While Ron Rivera gets the last say due to a “coach-centric” approach, he needs another set of trustworthy eyes. Kyle Smith has proven he is just that.
Smith has to be promoted to GM and very soon. I am sure others in the league are taking notice. He could get poached if the Washington Football Team does not act fast. He is a valuable asset to this franchise and that cannot be overstated.
Furthermore, this team needs Smith for an even bigger reason. As the foundation is set and the pieces on this team form, it has become clear this team is a few offensive pieces, and especially a game-changing quarterback away from something special. Everyone loves the story of Alex Smith, and he is playing fairly well right now, but everyone knows they need the guy.
Whether it is this offseason or an offseason in the very near future, the Washington Football Team will be choosing their next franchise quarterback very soon. It is a massive decision and it needs to be done right this time. Kyle Smith needs to be around to help select that person.
He has earned that right. Promote Kyle Smith to GM, before some else does.
