2. Cam Sims, Isaiah Wright both set career highs in receiving yards

There are a few reasons that Cam Sims and Isaiah Wright could be in for big days.

First of all, they’re facing a Cowboys defense that hasn’t been very good against receivers this year. Dallas has allowed a league-high 19 TDs to the wide receiver position, so Washington should be able to take advantage of that. The question is, however, how will they do it?

Many will point to Terry McLaurin as the receiver that could get the job done here. While that’s certainly possible, there are some concerns with McLaurin. He’s dealing with a knee injury that is making him questionable for this contest, and while he’s expected to paly, he could be just a bit dinged up.

Additionally, the Cowboys may focus all of their energy on trying to stop McLaurin as they likely view hm as the key to the Washington passing attack. That could work, but it also will leave opportunities open for other receivers.

On Sunday, Washington figures to have Cam Sims serve as the No. 2 receiver, Steven Sims work in the slot, and Dontrelle Inman (now healthy) and Wright rotate into the lineup. That’s not a bad group, and it’s one that has some serious upside. If Alex Smith wants to get the ball downfield, he may have to target some of these potential playmakers, and Cam Sims and Wright probably have the best chance of posting solid days.

Sims, 6-foot-5, can be a downfield threat for Washington. He will stretch the field vertically and could make some big plays. Meanwhile, Wright can make some plays with the ball in his hands, so Washington may try to give him a few short to intermediate passes to get him in space to do some damage.

When it’s all said and done, Sims and Wright could each have big days for Washington. Their skills match up well with Dallas’ weaknesses and they should have the opportunity to produce. Sims will certainly be on the field enough to exceed his high-water mark of 110 yards and Wright will have a chance to log more than the 59 yards he put up against Detroit.

It’s not guaranteed that this will happen, but it’s possible. It’s bold, but we’re going to stick with it and see where it takes us.
