New Coach Going to a Historical Franchise

In the show, Ted Lasso moves to England to coach AFC Richmond, a historical franchise within the English Premier League that has been wholly underperforming in recent years. There are some talented players on the team, but the cohesiveness and camaraderie between teammates isn’t there.

Given the team’s struggles, the fan base is fed up, and a lot of them are not too excited about the new hire. Sound familiar? It should.

The Washington Football Team is a historic franchise with a fanbase that has rooted for the team for decades, only to have their hearts broken over and over again during Dan Snyder’s tenure. Fans have become fed up with the dysfunctional environment around the team and frustrated by the constant carousel of coaches and quarterbacks.

After a 3-13 season and living through the mediocre tenure of Jay Gruden, fans want wins and they want them sooner rather than later. Many Washington Football threads are also full of comments from fans who questioned Rivera’s hiring, pinning his success on having Cam Newton as his quarterback, and bringing up that he only had three winning seasons during his tenure with the Panthers.
