Washington Football Team Stud: WR Cam Sims

Many fans of the Washington Football Team got their wish on Sunday. They finally got a chance to see the team use Cam Sims in a starting role. And he delivered.

Sims was one of the biggest playmakers on the Washington offense against the Giants. Despite only seeing four targets and getting three catches, he was able to post a whopping 110 yards.

One of the big reasons for this was that Sims was able to make plays with the ball in his hands. The Giants weren’t focused on him at all, so he found himself in space a lot. And when he did, he did all of the right things.

First, he focused on making the catch. Then, he looked for a route to earn more yards. That’s how he was able to post at least 32 yards on each of his catches. He did have space, but he was able to plan ahead and use his athleticism to beat defensive backs in space.

Sims’ solid play earned the praise of Alex Smith, who commended the receiver for staying ready despite mostly being a practice squad player or inactive player for the last few seasons.

"“Cam’s done an amazing job of just staying ready,” Smith said. “He does it every day in practice. The guy just works incredibly hard. He’s really talented. I think he’s been getting more opportunities, and rightfully so.”"

Clearly, Sims was a star on Sunday. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see what he can do for this offense or if he will find it more difficult to make plays as defenses see more tape of him.
