When he got his chance to move from special teams to starting linebacker in Chicago, I thought Kevin Pierre-Louis looked like the kind of player the Washington Football Team needed: A speedy, athletic defender who could run with backs in coverage. His game Game 2 performance against Arizona ranks alongside Cole Holcomb’s breakout against Dallas last week as one of the best games played by a Washington linebacker this season.

On the other hand, I’m the guy who said Cornelius Lucas would be the starting left tackle in 2020. But we seem to have misplaced him. How you misplace 6-foot-8, 327 is beyond me, but seriously, where is this guy? His steady play against Dallas may lead to his rediscovery.

I never wanted to trade Kendall Fuller in the first place. It seemed likely that upon his return, he would become the Washington Football Team’s top player in the secondary. And that is what has happened.

On the other hand, I thought Sean Davis would be the ideal complement to Landon Collins in the backfield. I’m still wondering what happened there.

I’ve said it a couple of times. I’m a J.D. McKissic fan. He is not the most athletic or the fastest. He looked downright bad in his first game. But he is a quality pass catcher and a tough runner, and he has trended up ever since that inauspicious beginning.

On the other hand, I also had Cody Latimer as the starting Z-receiver opposite Terry McLaurin this year. This is why I do not go to Vegas.

I knew that Peyton Barber was kind of who Donnie Warren would have been were Donnie Warren a running back. But Donnie Warren was not a running back. First off, he was a stud blocker. And when Donnie Warren caught a pass and fell down, you got the five-yard pass plus the two-yard fall down. Barber is a running back. All you get is the two-yard fall down.

On the other hand, Isaiah Wright is not half bad. And Isaiah Wright was nowhere on my radar right up until cutdown day.
