Stock Down: S Landon Collins

In general, the play of the safeties has been a massive “stock down.” However, Troy Apke is a former fourth round pick and Deshazor Everett is a special teams menace that is meant to be good depth. Poor play from them, in terms of assets invested, is not as concerning as Landon Collins.

Landon Collins is on a six-year, $84 million dollar deal. For a safety, he is making massive amounts of money. And to be frank, he has played horrofically to start the 2020 season.

Collins’ struggles in coverage have persisted, and now he is even poor in run defense, his supposed strength. He let Daniel Jones outrun him on a 49-yard scramble, one of the Giants biggest plays all season. Through the air, he allowed Devonta Freeman and Evan Engram to get behind him in coverage.

Troy Apke has gotten much attention for his poor play, and rightfully so. But Landon Collins definitely shouldn’t get a pass. Landon Collins is playing like a very below-average safety right now. And that is being nice. It shouldn’t go unnoticed. Landon Collins’ stock is plummeting.
