Stud No. 5 – P Tress Way

Whenever the offense literally gains negative yards over the span of two and a half quarters, there’s going to be a silver lining: Your Pro Bowl punter is going to be seeing the field a lot.

On Sunday against the Rams, Tress Way punted ten times — the amount of punts Johnny Hekker had logged all season before playing Washington. On those ten punts, Way sent the ball 511 total yards, averaging over 51 yards per punt, and he also managed to down a punt inside the 20-yard line, an impressive feat given that he was often punting near or behind his own 20-yard line.

Way has 31 punts through five games, and he’s on pace to near the 100-punt mark, a mark that only 13 punters have cleared since 2000. You want your first All-Pro since your last All-Pro (also a punter)? Tress Way is getting the exposure necessary to get there, courtesy of the offense.

So, at least our punter is still good. Right?

Right?
