Washington Football Team Stud: CB Kendall Fuller

Kendall Fuller played his first game of the season for Washington in Week 3 against the Browns. It was a quiet return to Washington for the cornerback as he made just a single tackle and didn’t do much to slow down the Browns’ offense.

In Week 4 against the Ravens, Fuller’s impact was far more tangible. He even gave Washington a chance to stay in the game.

Washington fell behind Baltimore early and before halftime, they were down 21-7 and the Ravens had the ball. That was when Fuller made a key play. He broke on a Lamar Jackson pass, jumped the route, and grabbed the pick while keeping both of his feet inbounds on the play.

The play was a solid one and it also allowed Washington to get the ball back and drive down the field for a field goal attempt. They nailed it and cut the halftime deficit to 11. That didn’t matter in terms of the final score, but it was a good moment for the team nonetheless and it can be a nice moment for the team to build on moving forward.

Later in the game, Fuller did the same thing against Robert Griffin III. He was playing coverage on Marquise Brown and the ball was slightly overthrown. Fuller managed to catch the ball mid-air after it was tipped by Brown. Then, Fuller made sure to fall down inbounds to secure the interception. It was a beautiful play and it set up Washington’s final TD drive.

Fuller’s two picks set up 10 of Washington’s 17 points in the game. That may be unsustainable, but if Fuller can continue to generate turnovers and make big plays throughout the season, it will certainly have a positive impact on Washington’s ability to win games.
