1. Dwayne Haskins completes 70 percent of his passes, is only sacked once

Dwayne Haskins was officially put on notice by Ron Rivera after his poor Week 3 performance against the Cleveland Browns. That doesn’t mean that Haskins’ time as a starter is done, but it does mean that if he doesn’t improve soon, the team may think about making a move at the quarterback position.

Essentially, Rivera’s meeting with Haskins amounts to a challenge. Either Haskins can step up and start to improve and earn the trust of the coaching staff, or he can continue to struggle and risk getting benched.

I expect that Haskins will step up his game a bit in Week 4 against the Ravens and buy himself more time to prove himself. He won’t do anything amazing. He probably won’t be able to put together a lot of big-time scoring drives against the Ravens’ solid defense, but there are still ways that he can impact the game and show that he’s getting better and more comfortable on the field.

If Haskins can complete a season-high 70 percent of his passes and only suffer one sack at most, which would tie his career-best mark, the coaches should be satisfied that he’s at least making some improvements. We’ll say that Haskins can get the job, even if this game is just about him being accurate and avoiding mistakes at the cost of potential big plays.
